These photographs were taken by Maurice Chown in the early 1970s somewhere in Scotland, while on a birding trip with Steve Howcroft. Scans from slides provided by SRH.
The Dotterel was on Carn Ban Moor. We slogged all the way up there - no chairlift nonsense ! However the Ptarmigan was probably on Cairngorm. Will try to seek out a few more titbits soon.
